As a mom and an organizer, I am always striving to find products to make my life (and my clients’ lives) easier. Below are five products that I think are “must haves” for anyone looking to become more organized.
1. The Magnetic Measuring Spoons – found at The Container Store www.containerstore.com
What’s great about these is that unlike traditional measuring spoons on a ring, these magnetically connect together and separate easily. With the measurements easily visible on each spoon, there is no more looking all over for the ¼ tsp or 1 tbsp somewhere in the back of a drawer! What’s even better about these is that they are double sided- for both wet and dry ingredients and their flat-base allows them to rest easily on a counter. Oh, and did I mention that they are only $14.99?
2. Command Strip Hooks – found in grocery stores, home improvement stores, etc.
There are several varieties of Command Strip hooks in various colors, shapes and sizes, but what’s great is that they are easily mounted by an adhesive strip that goes on and off without leaving a mess! You can use them almost anywhere including, garages, mudrooms, bedrooms, utility closets, kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms and offices. Best of all they range between $3 – $10…A “must have” for everyone!
3. Modular Mates by Tupperware – www.Tupperware.com
I love these and have several in my own home. They stack beautifully, clean easily, are extremely durable and come in a variety of shapes and sizes. If you are looking to maximize space in your pantry-this is the way to go! Although they are technically designed for kitchen storage, they can be uses throughout the house to contain items such as: toys, nails/screws, sundries, etc. Tip: If you purchase the “superset” you save considerable money!
4. Bamboo Organizing Trays – found at Bed Bath and Beyond www.bedbathbeyond.com
Great inexpensive organizing tools to help avoid every drawer looking like a “junk drawer”. Allows you to keep “like” items together so you can find them quickly and easily. Also available in a variety of sizes depending on your needs for each specific space. Great for kitchen, office and bathroom drawers.
5. Label Maker- found at Staples, Amazon.com, Target, Wal-Mart, etc.
I use my label maker for everything from labeling the kids school items, office files, holiday items, and not to mention my Modular Mates. It’s another inexpensive way to have everything uniform and organized. The labels are easy to peel off as your storage needs change.
Remember, you don’t need a lot of money to get organized-just a solid system and the discipline to follow through!
