Organizing 101: Regain Control
When people ask me how I started my company I often respond “I took my OCD and created a business out of it”. People laugh, but there is an element of truth to it. We all have coping mechanisms to deal with stress: some people eat, other people work out, I re-organize my pantry. I know it’s weird, but it’s true. When life gets crazy we look to find comfort in things that make us feel empowered.
Being organized is about control. Control of your home, control of your belongings, and control of your life. If you’re disorganized, it’s affects every aspect of your life. People who are disorganized are known to be more stressed, have less free time, and suffer from depression and anxiety.
Control your clutter, Don’t let it control you. There are plenty of things we cannot control; clutter is not one of them. Stop allowing piles of paper, laundry and over scheduled calendars to create additional stress in your life. Don’t you think it’s time for you to start controlling your clutter instead of letting it control you?
Find Balance. You don’t have to organize all day every day (who has time for that?!) Living organized involves developing strategies to help keep your clutter to a minimum so you can enjoy the things that bring you joy. Invest a small amount of time each day to getting organized and you’ll be amazed at how much easier your life can be.
Happy Organizing!
